Not much more is known about this couple than what appears.
Their marriage banns were posted at both the Heepen and the Hereford Munster Parishes. Conrad Henrich's age was 28 and Friederike was said to be 21. Both sets of parents were deceased by the time of the marriage which occured in September 1849 at Heepen.
The couple had two children before migrating over to the USA. Despite a search of records, their immigration record was not found; however, it is known that the Brakensieks made the voyage between the dates of May 13, 1852 and October 27, 1854, by looking at birth records of the children. It is believed the trip was made during the later part of 1853, and that they may have been accompanied by Friederike's half-brother, Heinrich Friederich Christian Hunerhoff, then to be around 20 years of age.
The 1860 Census places the Brakensieks with their young family in Lima Tounship, Adams County, Illinois, where they evidently had purchased land. Also listed as a member of the Brakensiek household was Friederike's young nephew, Caspar Heinrich Hunerhoff, the son of her brother Wilhelm Hunerhoff.
Friederike Hunerhoff Brakensiek died 13 days after the birth of her seventh child. Henry Brakensiek lived on as a widower for 14 more years. Both Henry and Friederike had been active members of the Bethany German Evangelical Church at Tioga, in fact, had been among the charter members, and the churchyard became their final resting place.
